Jeremy Patrick McKay
I barely got through High School. I joined the US Navy in 1974, to get away from home and to avoid college. It was suppose to be a short detour. It became a life, at 21 years old, I had a beautiful wife and son. The easy choice was to continue my military service.
When I was in High School, I painted and wrote beautiful poetry. (At least that’s what Lisa M, said). Once I committed to a second enlistment most of the art and poetry was wrung out of me. The drinking didn’t help either. I was young and committed to the hard work, play hard culture. If it wasn’t for long periods at sea I probably would have never read or written anything.

When I was 23, my daughter was born. I had two children, shore duty in Patuxent River, Maryland. I wanted my children to be proud of me so I went back to school.
